The Episcopal Church
What we believe...
Our Diocese, The Worldwide Anglican Communion

As Episcopalians, our family in Christ is large and far-reaching. Our parish is one of 41 churches in the Diocese of Missouri, headquartered in St. Louis. Our diocese is one of over 111 dioceses in The Episcopal Church (TEC), grouped into nine (9) provinces across 17 countries and territories. The TEC headquarters are in New York City.  TEC is a member of the Worldwide Anglican Communion, which is headquartered in England.

The Right Reverend Deon K. Johnson, 11th Bishop of the Diocese of Missouri

"We believe that God is calling the people of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri to transform our churches, our communities and our world to reflect more and more God’s dream found in Jesus Christ...
So, whether you are here for the first time or have been in church all your life; whether you are liberal, conservative, independent or progressive; whether you are urban, suburban, rural or nor place to lay your head; whether you are rich, dead broke, old, young, straight, gay, Trans, non-binary, arriving with a busload of kids, coming alone, firm in your faith or filled with doubts, God brought you here and we welcome you... just as you are!"

We respectfully recognize and acknowledge that we are on traditional, ancestral lands of the Osage Nation. The process of acknowledging the land we stand on is a way of accepting our complicity in a process of colonization that removed the Osage people from their ancestral lands. We also make this acknowledgment to affirm our commitment to stand with indigenous communities today as they seek justice and resist continued threats to their sovereignty and humanity. We are also cognizant that we cannot separate the history of the Episcopal Church and other Christian churches from the history of colonialism and slavery in the United States. Four hundred plus years ago, the first enslaved Africans were brought to the Americas. We acknowledge the legacy of slavery in this area, and the blood, sweat, and tears of enslaved people that soak the earth beneath our feet in Missouri. This legacy persists today as we continue to work towards racial justice, equity, liberation, and community, here in Missouri, across the Episcopal Church., and our sisters and brothers in the Christian tradition.  (The Episcopal Diocese of Missouri Land Acknowledgement statement, adapted)

The Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury
As followers of Jesus Christ, Christians are sent into the world to live lives inspired by his love and teaching and to bring that transforming and sacrificial love into all aspects of society. They invite others to find faith and follow Jesus as disciples, inspired to live a "Jesus Shaped Life". This work of mission is encapsulated in the Anglican Communion’s Five Marks of Mission:

The mission of the Church is the mission of Christ
:
  1. To proclaim the Good News of the KingdomTo teach, baptise and nurture new believers
  2. To respond to human need by loving service
  3. To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation
  4. To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth
